The Starlight Summer Movie Series
On three Saturday evenings each summer, a fun for all ages movie will be shown on the giant, outdoor SuperScreen TM in the heart of Downtown. The inflatable screen will fill Festival Park and Second Street between Wilcox and Perry Streets. There will also be entertainment before the movie including music, buskers, and food and beverages from downtown vendors. The concert and street entertainment start at approximately 6:30 p.m. and the movies will commence at dark, at about 8:30 p.m. 2008 movie nights are: June 7th , July 12th , and September 6th.
Oktoberfest This lively downtown tradition was handed off to DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS ASSOC. from Colorado Community Newspapers in 2006. Over 70 craft and vendor booths fill Festival Park and 2nd Street with kids' activities, German bands and beer creating the quintessential Oktoberfest experience. The 2008 date is October 4th.
The Summer Music Festival is a third-year event for the Downtown Merchants Assoc. The format will again mirror that of the street festival that has taken place prior to each of the outdoor movies. While the primary focus will be live music, there will also be street entertainers, food and beer vendors, and more. Attendees will enjoy a variety of family-friendly music played by a series of bands throughout the afternoon and evening. It is scheduled for Saturday August 2nd in Festival Park / Second Street.
Free candy is handed out to costumed kids by participating downtown businesses. This has been an annual downtown tradition for over 6 years. The event occurs on October 31 st .
Community Easter Egg Hunt In addition to the mad scramble for Easter Eggs, event-goers enjoy kids' games and activities. This event is held in partnership with Covenant Church (the Chapel). The event will occur in Festival Park / 2nd Street unless weather forces the event indoors, to Covenant Church at Third & Perry. Date: March 22, the Saturday before Easter.
