We have had so much fun getting to know our local merchants and #CelebratingCastleRock with our weekly Downtown Castle Rock Business Highlights! This week we will learning more about another historic staple in Downtown, the Castle Cafe!
Castle Cafe has been a vital part of Downtown Castle Rock for the last 24 years! The restaurant is located at the beginning of downtown at 403 Wilcox St! The Castle Cafe is known for there world-famous pan-fried chicken that is available during dinner and all day on the weekends! You can visit Castle Cafe Monday-Thursday 11:00am- 9:00pm, Friday-Saturday from 11:00am-10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am-8:00pm.
Something that you might not know about the Castle Cafe is the building is over 100 years old! Castle Hotel and Bar was a gathering place for quarry workers, ranchers and travelers in the 1890's. In those days, the bar was one of the wildest in the area. Around 1910, The Castle Hotel and Cafe became the stopover for travelers between Denver and Colorado Springs. A dance hall was built over the bar and served as a community center during the roaring 20's, depressing 30's and early 40's. Throughout the years, The Castle Cafe and Lounge has remained the geographical and social heart of the Castle Rock area. The Castle Café is a local and historic pub with southern inspired fare. You will not want to miss out on an opportunity to stop by and enjoy a meal!

The Downtown Castle Rock Alliance had the opportunity to sit down with Dillon Walls, the owner of Castle Cafe. Below are a few of our favorite questions we got to discuss with Dillion.

Tell us the story/background of your business. How did you end up running a business in your industry?
The Castle Cafe is a family business, I jumped in around 2010 during the last economic downturn to help one of our struggling stores. We changed the concept of the store leveraging a small capital investment to turn things around and I realized I had a knack for the family business and haven’t turned back since!
Favorite thing about owning a small business?
The People, the people, the people. The people in Castle Rock make owning a small business worth it every day. We also love the small town feel of Castle Rock with access to the larger Denver Metro Area, the best of both worlds.
Favorite place to visit in Downtown Castle Rock
I love it all, but I'd have to say The Barn is my very favorite place to visit!
Favorite day of the year to own a small business?
Starlighting is hands down the best day of the year to own a small business! We look forward to it every year.
